There is so much misinformation out there about BFAR, isn't there? And it's so hard when you're in a hormonal, emotionally-fragile state to say "no." It's like a woman in labour being pushed into a c-section because it's "best for baby", right? How do you say no to something that could save your baby's life, even if you think they're wrong.

I so remember the conversations with nurse after nurse after nurse about supplementation. One even went as far as tell me to 'just do it and get used to it, you'll be lucky to breastfeed at all, you will HAVE to supplement at home".

I was lucky enough to have one nurse who was in training to become an IBCLC and told me to ignore everyone else.

If it weren't for her I don't know what would have happened.

You are a rock star for continuing to try every time, and you are a total rock star for every quiet moment of skin to skin, and every drop of colostrum and breast milk! You are also a rock star for making that tough decision to formula feed after all. It's what was right for you and your family, and I am so sorry that you had to defend that decision to anyone.
